WEIF Chairman highlights Arab eco. summit significance

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 19 (KUNA) -- The economic summit hosted in Kuwait as of Monday is a venue to boost Arab economic cooperation, which in turn furthers cooperation in the Islamic World, World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) Foundation's chairman, Tun Musa Hitam, told KUNA.
Hitam, former Malaysian prime minister, said the Arab economic summit tackles the most important issues of human resources development and improving Arab citizens' living conditions as whole.
He underscored that both items are priority issued for the Arab and the Islamic worlds.
Hitam indicated the success of the Kuwait summit is already apparent, as it yielded positive results in the preparatory meetings that preceded the actual event. A number of development projects were endorsed and supported by businessmen and the private sector, he noted.
The Malaysian official further said that the Arab economic summit is a golden opportunity for agreeing on Shariah-compliant joint development ventures and countering challenges that face the Islamic world.
He lauded His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his ongoing support to the Islamic and Arab economy, whishing his highness further success in leading his country and serving his Arab and Islamic nation.(end) asf.sab KUNA 190902 Jan 09NNNN
