Private sector can provide numerous jobs for Arab youth - Kuwaiti businessman

KUWAITR, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- The private sector can play a key role to providing jobs for youth specially in services sector in a drive to tackle what is known as the masked unemployment, a Kuwaiti businessman said Sunday.
Mohammad Al-Shaya, board chairman of Al-Shaya Group, told a forum on Youth within the "Private Sector and Civil Society Forum," that the Arab world needed new 90 million jobs over 20 years.
"We have a problem in administration, education, selfishness and violence which are opposed by plenty of materials and a distinguished geographic location, tradition, values and youth who represent 70 percent of overall population," said Al-Shaya.
He called for more investments in education, for education in the Arab world was in need of restructuring.
"We need to invest in education and in particular in teachers through the increase of their salaries and improving their teaching capabilities," he said.
Al-Shaya called for the rehabilitation of youth to be qualified for a diverse labor market.
The Kuwaiti businessman underlined important role of the vocational training centers, and noted that privatization would provide more competitive atmosphere for the Arab youth to enable them be involved in the decision-making process. (end) kt KUNA 181723 Jan 09NNNN
