KUWAIT, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- Information Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah stressed Sunday that the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip will be a major issue during a two-day Arab Econommic summit that will kick off here Monday.
In a press conference at the media center of the Summit, Al-Sabah emphasized that Arab leaders participating in the Summit will consider all previous efforts to support Gaza, including a meeting that was recently held in Doha, Qatar, and will discuss the Gaza fund and how the money will be delivered to the Palestinians.
The minister emphasized that the Israeli ceasefire announcement was "not enough", stressing that it should comply will all international laws and UN resolutions.
There is an international responsibility to pressure Israel to comply with UN resolution 1860 and a responsibility to reconstructing Gaza Strip, he said.
The Israeli offensive against Gaza Strip killed over 1,200 Palestinians and injured over 5,000 others, as well as causing massive damage to infrastructure and properties.
Meanwhile, the minister said the Summit will also discuss important economic issues like reducing the negative effects of the world economic crisis.
He added the private sector and financial corporation had great abilities to overcome the negative impacts, but must play bigger roles.
He pointed out that economy was the way to achieve integration and unity among the Arab countries, and European countries were a good example of that. (end) kt KUNA 181548 Jan 09NNNN
