ARADO chief calls for making eco summit a periodic event

KUWAIT, Jan 18 (KUNA) -- Director General of the Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO) Dr. Rifaat Al-Faouri reiterated Sunday the importance of the Arab Economic Summit and hoped that it would become a periodic event.
Speaking to KUNA on the sidelines of the summit's "Private Sector and Civil Society Forum," he said that Arab leaders met to discuss political issues and should meet over economic issues just the same in order to discuss challenges facing development.
Economic issues are not any less important that political ones, he said, and thus summit would place the basis of economic projects and activating them.
Al-Faouri underscored the importance of the land transport linkage project that was presented to the summit, and called on leaders to seriously consider it as it would boost inter-Arab trade and thus contribute to economic integration. (end) kt KUNA 181056 Jan 09NNNN
