Kuwait Summit significant due to private sector presence - Saudi official

RIYADH, Jan 17 (KUNA) -- The upcoming Arab Economic, Social and Development Summit scheduled in two days holds a special significance to its hosting of the Arab private sector, banks and civil social organizations related to the economy, said a Saudi official on Saturday.
Saudi representation will be present and will contribute effectively to this summit that will free the path of economic partnerships and Arab economic integration to face the global financial downturn, said Chief of the Board Council of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Riyadh Abdulrahman Al-Jaraisy.
The Kuwait Summit is an opportunity to change the way obstacles that face Arab economic intergration are dealt with, Al-Jaraisy said, as well as carrying out steps for the execution of the Arab free-trade zone which has been met with several problems regarding taxes.
The private sector awaits concrete decisions from the summit regarding inter-Arab investment and an easier shift of investments throughout Arab countries, he added.
He also mentioned a number of items on the list of the summit's agenda like, a unified Arab railway system, a commercial Arab shipping fleet connecting Arab countries, a united electric system and tackling unemployment. (end) od.sd KUNA 172310 Jan 09NNNN
