By Baraka Al-Jassar (with photos) ABU-DHABI, Jan 17 (KUNA) -- United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Sheikh Nuhayyan Bin-Mubarak Al-Nuhayyan has highly appreciated on Sunday the efforts made by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to host the first Arab Economic, Social and Development Summit.
"As an Arab citizen, I hold the Kuwaiti leaders in high esteem for their keenness on boosting the Arab economic integration notably through the summit, due to kick off this Monday," Sheikh Nuhayyan told KUNA here.
"HH the Amir as well as the Kuwaiti government and people have made praiseworthy efforts to set the stage for the historic event which is expected to improve the standards of living of citizens of the Arab world, he said. The summit will lay the groundwork for effective economic integration among the Arab countries.
"The summit gains further importance as it coincides with the current global economic and financial turmoil and the grave consequences of the Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip on the Middle East," the UAE minister pointed out.
Kuwait made great efforts to prepare for the summit and ensure the fulfillment of its targets particularly those relating to the revival of the Arab economies, Sheikh Nuhayyan reaffirmed. (end) bmj.gb.
