Argentinean official underscores importance of Arab eco summit

KUWAIT, Jan 17 (KUNA) -- Former Argentinean Economy Minister Domingo Felipe Cavallo underscored Saturday the important political and economic role played by Kuwait, and expected that the Arab Economic Summit hosted by the Gulf state would issue decisions in the interest of the Arab people.
Speaking to KUNA on the sidelines of the preparatory meetings of the summit, he said that world was seeing fast-paced economic changes given the global financial meltdown, and the summit was opportune for discussing means to tackle such issues.
Cavallo, who will be participating in the Private Sector and Civil Society Forum, said the decisions of the forum would reflect positively on all states, especially the Gulf states, which he said had to unite in the coming period if they were to overcome the crisis and boost their commercial and economic stance at the international level.
The former minister called for establishing regional and international partnership in order to eradicate financial deterioration and to find greater investment opportunities. (end) kt KUNA 171018 Jan 09NNNN
