Arab eco summit''s work agenda will be road map for sustainable development

KUWAIT, Jan 15 (KUNA) -- The work agenda that is expected to be issued by the Arab Economic Summit will constitute the road map for economic prosperity and sustainable social development.
The draft of the agenda featured a number of important proposals related to agriculture development, food security, human resource development, industry, energy, transportation, water security, commerce, the Arab customs union, investment, finance, and monetary institutions.
It also includes several proposals related to communications, education, health services, unemployment, intellectual property, immigration, youth, housing, poverty, environment, tourism, the private sector, and the civil society.
According to the draft, achieving food security requires encouraging investments in the agricultural sector, along with improving agrarian policies and increasing research in this area.
As for energy, the draft underscored the need to complete the Arab electricity grid and expanding the natural gas network, as well as developing available energy resources and solar energy.
It also proposed the development of conventional and unconventional water resources, recycle water, and conduct research pertaining to water rationing.
The draft also put forth a number of proposals aimed at achieving production integration, removing customs limitations, and placing unified standards for Arab products. (end) amf.ema KUNA 151411 Jan 09NNNN
