Kuwait summit "historic" opportunity to buttress Arab financial system - official

 (With photos) TUNIS, Jan 14 (KUNA) -- The Arab Economic, Development and Social Summit, to be held in Kuwait on January 19-20, will provide a "historic" opportunity to buttress Arab financial and banking systems, said Tunis International Bank's (TIB) CEO and Managing Director Mohammad Al-Faqih on Wednesday.
Al-Faqih, in a statement to KUNA, said that Arab businessmen were anticipating a number of procedures to be endorsed by the summit that would contribute in sustaining transactions among Arab banks.
The Tunisian banker, in that regard, pointed out that developing trade and joint investment ventures was "essential" to achieve such objective, as he called for endorsing a number of mechanisms that would ensure the manifestation of such process.
The summit in Kuwait need to encourage flexibility in attracting capitals among Arab countries through facilitating related procedures, he noted.
A number of Tunisian delegations would take part in sideline events of the summit beside the main delegation participating in the high-level meeting.
A source at the Tunisian Union for Industry, Commerce and Handicrafts had told KUNA that a delegation of the union, headed by President Al-Hadi Al-Jilani, would also attend the summit.
