Arab eco summit a strategic step facing global crisis -- Jordanian PM

By Najim Abdullah AMMAN, Jan 14 (KUNA) -- Jordanian Prime Minister Nader Al-Dahabi said Wednesday that the Arab Economic Summit due in Kuwait on January 19-20 would allow Arabs to place a strategy in order to face the global financial crisis and its consequences.
He added in statements to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that a number of economic, developmental and social projects and programs should be reviewed as part of efforts to tackle the financial crisis and guarantee a decent life for Arabs.
He added that the Jordanian vision focused on enhancing cooperation between Arab countries and implementing the free trade agreement.
He stressed the importance of discussing the Arab customs union and considered it a step toward the joint Arab market, allowing Arab countries to rely more on each others in economic affairs.
He added that the upcoming summit would be a great opportunity to talk over the developmental projects in the infrastructure sectors, where some of them had been presented in previous Arab meetings, such as the Arab railway project, saying that the time had come to implement this vital project.
