Moroccan minister says Arab eco summit timely

KUWAIT, Jan 14 (KUNA) -- Moroccan Minister of Economy and Finance Salaheddin Al-Mizwar said Wednesday that the Arab Economic Summit was timely given the global economic meltdown and its repercussions, thus requiring a consolidation of efforts on the part of Arabs in order to tackle the ordeal.
Speaking to KUNA upon arrival to participate in the meeting of Arab finance ministers, governors of central banks, and heads of monetary funds later today, he said the summit would seek to find solutions to the economic problems that the Arab states faced and push forth for economic integration.
The minister called for boosting investments in Arab states and making infrastructure development a priority, as well as pushing forth with the greater Arab free trade market.
He also said the summit would be discussing the situation in Gaza, adding that his country would be seeking proposals to halt aggression and violence against Palestinians. (end) mge.ema KUNA 141205 Jan 09NNNN
