Arab summit an opportunity for comprehensive eco cooperation -- Tunisian experts

By Jamal Al-Nuwaif (with photos) TUNIS, Jan 14 (KUNA) -- Economics and experts agreed Wednesday that the upcoming Arab Economic Summit, due to be held in Kuwait on January 19-20, was a "golden opportunity" to reach comprehensive Arab economic integration, but said that this could only be reached through serious political will.
They said that pushing the wheel of joint Arab cooperation forward was a must, namely with recent regional and international developments as well as the global economic meltdown.
Economic analyst, Mohammad Al-Fraiwe, underscored in a statement to KUNA the importance of narrowing the gap between Arab countries in developing projects, food and digital and technological affairs.
He expressed hope that the upcoming summit would cope with the "unusual" fast-paced global developments.
Systematic variation and differences in economic regulations in the Arab world must not be an obstacle in the development of nations and their joint cooperation, he added.
On his part, Chairman of the Tunisian Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Safaqis region, Tawfiq Hasheesha, told KUNA that the upcoming summit was a "true" chance for inking strategic partnerships in real estate market and architecture.
He explained that such partnerships would be "strongly motivated" to improve the industrial and economic situation of developing countries who shared the same main goals.
Meanwhile, Editor-in-Chief of the "Al-Khabir" magazine, Abdullatif bin Hadiya, expressed hope that studies conducted in tabled proposals would be discussed "in depth" and that clear implementation mechanism would be placed. (end) jn.sab KUNA 140949 Jan 09NNNN
