Arab ambassadors hope summit will activate economic integration

(With photos) KUWAIT, Jan 14 (KUNA) -- A number of Arab League ambassadors expressed hope that the upcoming Arab Economic Summit, to be held here next week, would activate Arab economic integration and reduce the negative effects of the world economic crisis.
The ambassadors told KUNA, upon their arrival here to take part in the summit, that they expected the event to be successful and different from previous summits.
Bahrain's Ambassador to Egypt and permanent representative in the Arab League, Khalil Al-Thawadi, hoped the summit would contribute to the development of infrastructure in the Arab world, especially that of transportation.
The summit will be an opportunity to discuss all challenges facing the Arab economy, he stressed.
Tunisian Ambassador to Egypt and permanent representative in the Arab League, Al-Sadiq Al-Qarbi, on his part praised Kuwait's efforts for hosting the summit and described the event as a major stage in placing the pillars of Arab economic integration and a joint Arab market.
Meanwhile, Sudan's Ambassador to Egypt and its permanent representative in the Arab League, Abdulmosem Mabrook, underscored the importance of the summit, which he said was the first of its kind in the Arab world, expressing hope that it would be a start for stronger Arab economic cooperation.
Sudan will be presenting a paper on food security at the event, he added.
On his part, Somalia's Ambassador to Egypt and permanent representative in the Arab League, Abdullah Hassan Mahmoud, said Kuwait was a leader when it came to promoting Arab causes in all fields and emphasized that the success of the summit would be a success for all Arabs.
Lebanese Ambassador to Egypt and permanent representative in the Arab League, Khalid Ziada, said the summit would contribute to placing programs for Arab economic cooperation. (end) kz.ris KUNA 140943 Jan 09NNNN
