Media figures hope Arab eco summit adopts applicable resolutions

(With photos) CAIRO, Jan 11 (KUNA) -- A number of media figures and economists expressed hope that the Arab Economic Summit, to be held in Kuwait on January 19-20, would make some major reforms in the Arab world's economy.
Arab League Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs Dr. Mohammad Al-Tuwairji told KUNA, on the sidelines of the media forum held here Saturday evening to prepare for the Arab Economic Summit, that obstacles hindering investment and attracting capital in the Arab world had to be eliminated.
On his part, Editor-in-Chief of Kuwait-based "Awan" newspaper, Dr. Mohammad Al-Rumeihi, told KUNA that the Arab summit would review the economic situation based on studies and economic projects.
Moreover, the media figure hoped the summit would adopt applicable resolutions which would help reform the economic situation in the Arab World, especially after the global economic meltdown.
The Arab economy's stability will positively reflect upon the political situation, and thus comprehensive social, economic, educational and health development will be ensured, he added.
Meanwhile, Arab Media Forum Secretary General Madhi Al-Khamees said Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa briefed reporters and media figures on summit preparations and interacted with them.
The Arab Media Forum along with the Arab League General Secretariat is getting ready to launch a project for training media figures, with the support of Moussa, he added.
The forum, held last night, was organized by the Arab League Secretariat's Media Department in Cooperation with the Arab Media Forum. It aimed at discussing preparations for the Arab Economic Summit. (end) kz.mab.mar KUNA 111044 Jan 09NNNN
