 By Mohammad Al-Enizi

KUWAIT, Jan 10 (KUNA) -- The Arab Economic Summit, to be hosted by Kuwait on January 19-20, derives importance from the critical situation that the global economy is witnessing and the challenges particularly facing the Arab world, said Jordanian Ambassador Jumaa Al-Abbadi on Saturday.
Speaking to KUNA, he said that some of the Arab world's greatest challenges lay in poverty, unemployment, high population growth rates, the large percentage of youth, the modest volume of inter-trade and investments, the migration of Arab intellectuals, and incompatibility of graduates with requirements of the market.
He called for taking swift action to achieve Arab economic integration, activating economic agreements, and reviewing action mechanisms in order to keep up with global economic challenges.
Al-Abbadi said that Kuwait's initiative for holding this summit reflected its keenness for "drawing a bright future for Arab economic action" and working to create a qualitative leap in economic cooperation.
He also underscored the important role played by Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development in financing strategic Arab projects of a developmental nature.
The ambassador expressed hope that the Arab leaders would issue recommendations that would serve to guarantee the success of the greater Arab free trade zone and achieving integration. (end) mge.ema KUNA 101107 Jan 09NNNN
