Current financial crisis on agenda of upcoming economic summit -- Al-Khaled

KUWAIT, Jan 5 (KUNA) -- Director of the Economic Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Sheikh Ali Al-Khalid Al-Sabah said here on Monday that the economic summit which will be hosted by Kuwait on January 19-20 will examine ways of resolving the current global financial crisis.
This came in a statement by Sheikh Ali to reporters on the sidelines of a meeting between Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Khaled Al-Jarallah with Arab ambassadors to inform them of the preparations undertaken by the State of Kuwait to prepare for the economic summit.
He added that the crisis will top the leaders' meetings as studies will be presented to find a way out of it.
He added that the leaders meeting will be preceded by a meeting of central bank governors and Arab finance ministers on January 14 in Kuwait to come up with a working paper to find a way out of the crisis faced by financial markets and some companies.
Sheikh Ali said that the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development is continuing to finance Arab development projects, adding that there are a number of proposed projects for submission to the summit including the Arab electricity linkage, the Arab land railway network, the emergency program for Arab food security and the Arab-integrated program to support the operation and the reduction of unemployment in the Arab countries.
