Kuwait Summit announces media campaign jumpstart, new website

KUWAIT, Dec 22 (KUNA) -- The media campaign for the upcoming Arab Economic, Development and Social Summit due to be held in Kuwait, January 19-20, has kicked off, announced the summit's media committee on Monday.
Chairman of the Media Committee -- an offshoot of the Higher Committee Assigned to Prepare for the Summit -- Mohammad Abulhasan also unveiled the Kuwait Summit's newly completed website: www.kuwait-aes09.com.
Abulhasan said furthermore, that the initiative to host the summit by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah is based on six components.
The first of these components is to mobilize economic and political efforts. The second is to encourage agreements and dual projects as a forefront for Arab joint partnerships.
Thirdly, comes putting economic and trade agreements between Arab states into practice. The development of mechanisms aimed at executing agreements as well as inspection measures to solve obstacles and problems in relation to economic changes come fourth.
Fifth in line, are investments in the infrastructure, while the sixth component is to add significance to the role of the private sector as a binding force between Arab states, by providing the right environment and correct policies for this convergence.
The decision to host the summit has gained appraisal from Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak as well as being warmly welcomed in the previously held Arab League summits in Riyadh, (Saudi Arabia) and Damascus (Syria), the media committee chairman said.
The strategic and vital proposed list of items to be discussed at the summit will be the Arab electricity link project, the joint Arab railway system, an Arab emergency programme aimed at food security, an Arab customs' union, water security planning, the Arab intergrated job creation and unemployment reduction programme, The programme to reduce poverty in Arab nations, the Arab programme to execute development plans in the millennium and educational as well as medical development in the Arab World.
