CAIRO, Dec 4 (KUNA) -- The Preparatory Committee for the Arab Economic and Social Summit due to be held in Kuwait 19-20 January 2009, convened its seventh meeting on Thursday at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, Egypt, chaired by Kuwait's Finance Minister Mustafa Al-Shimali.
The six-nation ministerial meeting included Kuwait, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Qatar and Djibouti as well as observer Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa.
The committee adopted proposals set forth in its previous meeting regarding the "Kuwait Declaration," due to be carried to the upcoming Kuwait Summit.
Other proposals were also discussed regarding an electricity providing network, a joint railway system, food security, customs' unification, water security, minimizing unemployment and poverty as well as maintaining development programmes regarding education and health care.
Furthermore, the Arab League secretary general held a closed-door meeting with Arab finance and economic ministers to discuss the list of items on the Kuwait Summit's agenda. (end) mab.mfm.rg.sd KUNA 041641 Dec 08NNNN
