Chairman of KGL PI Mohammad Al-Mezeedi told KUNA the private sector is a major component of the Arab economy and has a great role in economic and social development.
The Kuwaiti private sector played a significant role in the process of Arab economic integration as its investments are the largest in Arab states, he added.
He called for removing obstacles facing the private sector through coordination with and among governmental bodies.
On his part, Damietta International Port Company (DIPCO) CEO Jamil Bahbahani told KUNA that the Kuwaiti call for holding an Arab economic summit is a leading and an important initiative.
He said the summit should stress the status of the private sector in the Arab world, pointing out that the Arab private sector became a major participant in developing Arab economies.
The summit will be an opportunity to discuss all challenges facing the Arab economy, he said.
The summit to be held on January 19 and 20, 2009 will discuss the Arab agreement on services trade, the establishment of an Arab customs union, the investor card to ease the travel of businessmen between Arab countries, economic integration, and issues related to education, health, poverty, unemployment, food security, and climate change.(end) kz.ris KUNA 240939 Nov 08NNNN
