Kuwaiti minister to head Arab eco summit preparatory cmte meeting

CAIRO, Nov 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Finance Minister Mustafa Al-Shimali will head here Thursday a meeting of the ministerial preparatory committee for the Arab Economic Summit, to be hosted by his country on January 19-20.
The meeting will be attended by representatives of Kuwait, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Qatar, Tunisia, and the Arab League.
Participants will discuss the summit's agenda, including the "Kuwait Declaration" which will by issued by Arab leaders after the summit, and proposed ideas and projects submitted by Arab countries and organizations.
The summit's General Coordinator Ambassador Mirvet Al-Talawi said in a press statement that the preparatory committee of senior officials recently discussed documents to be presented at the summit and will submit a thorough report on them to the Arab finance ministers at their meeting on December 4.
Meanwhile, an Arab League source told KUNA that the league received 442 proposed ideas and projects; 77 on energy, 62 on trade, 40 on investment, 36 on transport, 30 on finance sources and the establishment of Arab funds and finance firms, 30 on Arab food and water security, 25 on developing human resources and combating unemployment, 17 on the environment and climate changes, and 15 on education and scientific research.
Other proposals focus on issues related to the travel of businessmen among Arab countries, Arab economic and social integration, social development, encouraging the private sector, communications, industrial development, housing, youth, women, combating addiction, immigration, infrastructure, culture, media, disasters, humanitarian aid, and security, the source added.
Moreover, the source pointed out that several studies would be presented at the economic forums on January 17-18, preceding the summit.
