Kuwaiti economy summit gains momentum amid current global economic crisis

CAIRO, Nov 9 (KUNA) -- Director General of Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO) Refat Abdelhalim Alfaouri stressed importance Sunday on the upcoming Arab economic development summit scheduled to be held in Kuwait next January, noting that it was gaining momentum in light of the current global financial crisis.
Alfaouri said during the opening ceremony of the 9th Annual Conference of ARADO dubbed "creativity and innovation in governance and the challenges of the new millennium" that ARADO had made four specialized studies, centered in the areas of road transport, maritime and inter-Arab trade in preparation to be submitted for approval in the next summit.
The Secretary General described as normal effects of the current financial crisis on Arab countries, given the interconnectivity of the global economic system.
Alfaouri added that this impact will be smaller than what some of the European countries will have, noting that it will vary from an Arab country to another depending on the size of the assets and investments in the US and European banks.
Alfaouri explained that the world now is reconsidering the global economic policies in place at the regional and international levels and the degree of government intervention in the national economy, in a way that will ensure basic guarantees.
The Egyptian official also noted that the organization made during the past year about 400 training programs and completed about 350 different diplomas in management in various specialties. It also held more than 800 activities in 20 Arab countries.
Among others, Kuwait is participating in the conference with the Department of Economic Affairs Director in the Communication Ministry Abdulmuhsen Al-Mutairi who will lead one of the sessions in the conference tomorrow.
ARADO was established in 1961 as a specialized organization affiliated with the Arab League to assume the responsibility of promoting administrative development in the Arab region. (end) mab.mb KUNA 091711 Nov 08NNNN
