Arab envoys to reflect on preparations for economic summit

CAIRO, Nov 2 (KUNA) -- Arab permanent representatives are set to meet at the Arab League on Monday to thrash out preparations and arrangements for an Arab economic and social development summit due to be held in Kuwait on January 19-20.
Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Dr. Mervat al-Tallawi, general coordinator of the summit, said she had convened the meeting, which would be presided over by Saudi Arabia, to keep the representatives posted on the latest arrangements for the Kuwait conference.
The call came following a recent visit by Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa to the State of Kuwait for completing relevant preparations with senior Kuwaiti officials, she said.
During talks between Moussa and Kuwaiti officials, it was agreed that a fresh item bearing on the reflections of the global financial crisis on Arab economies would be put on the agenda of the gathering, she noted.
As many as 442 proposals covering common Arab economic and social action have been submitted so far, she added. (end) mfm.rg.mt KUNA 021657 Nov 08NNNN
