Kuwait, Egypt mull arrangements for economic summit

(With photos) CAIRO, Oct 28 (KUNA) -- A member of the high-level committee on preparations for a planned economic summit in Kuwait in January 2009 met here Tuesday with Egypt's Arab League representative on arrangements for the gathering.
Emerging from the meeting, Ambassador Sheikh Ali Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, the committee member, told reporters that contacts between Kuwait and Egypt were continuously underway for ensuring a successful economic and social development summit.
Egypt's Arab League Representative Ambassador Hazim Khairat is expected to visit Kuwait in the coming period to crystallize projects and proposals to be put on the agenda of the summit, he said.
He hailed His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's directives for proper preparations and arrangements for the summit, which is hoped to come up with recommendations and ideas that could serve the interest of the Arab citizens.
For his part, the Egyptian ambassador said there has been high-level Egyptian-Kuwaiti coordination since the Egyptian-Kuwaiti initiative of the summit was made public.
He said the initiative was largely welcomed by different Arab countries, which hope that the gathering would lead to an-Arab economic integration.
He termed the summit as a good example for reinforcing common Arab action in all fields, and a jumping-off for a strong Arab economic bloc modeled on international economic entities.
