CAIRO, Oct 26 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa said here Sunday Kuwait had completed all preparations and arrangements for an Arab economic summit due to be held in Kuwait on January 19-20, 2009.
Moussa was speaking at an extended consultative meeting at the league, which was attended by several Arab businessmen.
The summit will be a fresh and a quantum leap in pan-Arab economic and social development action, he said.
Moussa made it certain that he, together with Arab governments, businessmen and civil society institutions would attend the summit.
The meeting mainly aimed to get acquainted with proposals and visions which Arab businessmen want to put on the agenda of the January summit in Kuwait.
It was attended by a Kuwaiti delegation involving Chairperson of the Arab Businesswomen's Society Sheikha Hussa al-Saad al-Abdullah, Al-Kharafi Group Chairman Nasser al-Kharafi and Kuwait Industries Company Holding Ali Naqi.
Moussa said that during his recent visit to Kuwait he had agreed with Kuwait on the introduction of a new item to the agenda of the coming Arab economic summit, bearing on the negative reflections of the global financial mayhem on Arab economies.
The agenda of the summit will mainly involve joint ventures in roads, sea, land and railway transport and medicine, joblessness and health revamp, he said.
Arab financial funds are set to meet in Kuwait on October 29 to complete their proposals as a prelude to forwarding them to the planned summit, Moussa concluded.
