Arab League delegation to Kuwait to discuss economic summit

CAIRO, Sept 10 (KUNA) -- A delegation from the Arab League headed Wednesday to Kuwait on a three-day visit to conduct preparatory talks regarding the convening of the Arab Economic Summit in Kuwait next January.
Among members of the delegation is Mervat Talawi, coordinator of the summit and Muhammad al-Twaijri and Sima Bahouth who are assistants to the Arab League secretary general in charge of economic and social issues.
Talawi will review with her Kuwaiti hosts contents of the agenda of the summit and a concomitant forum that will be dedicated to discussing research papers on topics seminal to the theme of the summit, declared a source at the Arab League in a press statement.
In addition, Talawi will also look over with Kuwaiti summit organizors project ideas sumbitted by both the private and public sectors to be considered by the summit.
Two weeks ago, Kuwait's minister of Finance Mustafa al-Shemali took part in a meeting at the headquarters of the Arab League here in Cairo where preparations for the Kuwait summit were thoroughly thrashed over.
After the meeting, the minister sounded sanguine about the prospects of a successful summit in Kuwait with redeeming consequences for the benefit of all Arab societies. (end) az.ajs KUNA 101755 Sep 08NNNN
