Minister Plenipotentiary Abdel-Latif al-Awadhi, chief of the news section in the media and communication sector at the Arab League, was speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on the sidelines of an evening Ramadan ceremony thrown by the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Friendship Society late Sunday.
Preparations for the economic summit in Kuwait are in full swing, he said, pointing to the league's eagerness for ensuring the success of the meeting.
Initiated by Kuwait and Egypt, the summit is meant to stimulate and spur Arab nations to jointly create greater Arab economic unity and give an impetus to ensure a successful economic summit in Kuwait, he said.
For his part, former Egyptian prime minister Ali Lotfi, chairman of the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Friendship Society, hailed Egyptian-Kuwaiti relations as "distinguished" in various economic, political, cultural and educational fields.
Speaking to KUNA, he stressed the significance of the planned Arab economic summit in Kuwait, hoping that it would come up with resolutions and recommendations that could lead to more Arab economic integration in a world that is swarming with powerful and influential economic blocs.
But, he stressed that proper arrangements and preparations should be made for this significant Arab event. (end) nwr.rg.mt KUNA 081646 Sep 08NNNN
