ACSAD says Arab economic, development, social summit in Kuwait "important"

By Talal Al-Kayed (with photos) DAMASCUS, Sept 2 (KUNA) -- The Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) said here Tuesday that the Arab economic, development, and social summit to be held in Kuwait next January would address issues of paramount importance for the Arab citizens.
ACSAD General Manager Rafiq Ali Saleh told KUNA that the summit would set the parameters for Arab economic integration, affirming that his meeting with Arab officials in Cairo has focused on the preparations for the huge event.
He also said that he took part in the 82nd meeting for Arab Economic and Social Council which was held recently in the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, adding that the meeting has focused on issues such as Arab food and water securities, items to be featured in Kuwait's summit next January.
ASCAD's General Assembly and Executive Council meetings which were held in Damascus back in May also referred several proposed project to the summit, stated Saleh, adding that the center would partake in the exceptional sessions for the Arab Economic and Social Council which would focus on documents to be referred to the summit in Kuwait.
Launched in 1997, ACSAD is an autonomous body under the auspices of the Arab League aiming to promote and enhance transfer of know-how related to agricultural and socio-economic development.
