NEW DELHI, June 9 (KUNA) -- At least 22 rebels of the Liberation Tigers of
Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and seven security personnel have been killed in fresh
clashes in Sri Lanka's Northern region.
At least 17 LTTE cadres and seven security personnel were killed in
Athawetunuwewa North in North-eastern Welioya yesterday, Sri Lanka's Media
Centre for National Security said Monday at Colombo.
At least two LTTE cadres were killed in Periyamadu in Vavuniya yesterday,
Sri Lankan Defence Ministry said today in a statement in Colombo.
Three more rebels were killed in clashes in general area of Periyamadu
yesterday, the Ministry said. (end)
