NEW DELHI, Feb 24 (KUNA) -- At least 75 rebels of Liberation Tigers of
Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and three soldiers have been killed in fresh clashes in Sri
Lanka's Northern region.
In ground clashes, 11 LTTE rebels were killed in Koilmadu, two each in
Sulanmarathumadu and Navathkulamand, and three others in Periyapandivirchchan
area of Vavuniya yesterday, news agency Press Trust of India reported Sunday.
As many as eight LTTE cadres were killed in Kallikulam and four in
Perankulam area of Mannar yesterday, a Sri Lankan Defence Ministry statement
said.
Seven more LTTE rebels were killed in Palamodai area of Mannar in fierce
clashes yesterday, the Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) said, adding
four cadres were gunned down by troops at Perakamam.
In clashes in Jaffna, at least six LTTE rebels were killed yesterday, MCNS
said.
Seven LTTE rebels and a soldier were killed in Mullikulam yesterday, the
Defence Ministry said. In the Mannar front, two LTTE cadres were killed.
In Adampan area of Mannar, five LTTE rebels were killed yesterday, the MCNS
said.
A soldier was killed in Perankamam area of Mannar yesterday. In the
northeastern Welioya front, five rebels and a soldier were killed yesterday.
In Andankulam area of Mannar, 11 rebels were killed, the Defence Ministry
