NEW DELHI, Feb 5 (KUNA) -- At least 36 Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam
(LTTE) cadres and two government soldiers have been killed in fresh clashes in
Sri Lanka's northern region.
As many as 12 LTTE rebels were killed in three separate clashes yesterday
in Andankulam area in Northeastern Welioya region, news agency Press Trust of
India reported quoting Sri Lanka;s Media Centre for National Security (MCNS)
Tuesday.
Three LTTE rebels were killed in Wedamalai in Vavuniya, the MCNS said.
While, two LTTE men were killed in Navatkulam in Vavuniya, two rebels were
gunned down in Sirikulam and Adampan areas of North-western Mannar yesterday,
the news agency said today.
In Monarawewa, three LTTE rebels were killed by the Sri Lankan security
forces yesterday. While one rebel was killed in Vedamakilam in Vavuniya,
another was killed in Ethawetunuwewa in North East Welioya on Monday, the
Defence Ministry said.
Two rebels were killed at Muhamale in Jaffna peninsula yesterday, the news
agency said. Three LTTE cadres were killed in Wedamalai in Vavuniya in two
incidents, yesterday, MCNS said today.
While one rebel was killed in Pandirichani, two army personnel and a rebel
were killed in a separate clash in Periyapandirichan area yesterday.
In Manthottam area in Mannar, two LTTE cadres were killed. In a separate
incident, troopers killed a LTTE cadre in Monarewela in Welioya. One rebel
each was also gunned down in Athawattunuwewa and Vedamakilam, the news agency
