CAIRO, Feb 3 (KUNA) -- Official Spokesman for the Egyptian Government
Ambassador Suleiman Awad said Sunday the European Union's Foreign Policy
Coordinator Javier Solana promised the EU monitors of the Rafah crossing from
Gaza to Egypt will soon return to their posts.
Solana, who spoke to journalists after conferring with Egyptian President
Hosni Mubarak, is due to fly to Israel and meet with political leaders there
as part of his current tour of the area.
He said the monitors are due to return specifically to the Rafah crossing.
He told reporters the issue of the crossings into and out of Gaza was at
the center of his talks with the leaders he met so far.
Solana re-iterated the Egyptian call for an end to the Israeli-imposed
siege on the Gaza strip, which he blamed for the current unrest on the Rafah
crossing. (pick up previous)
