BAGHDAD, Nov 8 (KUNA) -- Iraqi President Jalal Al-Talabani assured U.S.
officials Thursday that his country would solve all disputed issues by the end
of 2007.
He made the pledge during his meeting here with the US Ambassador to Iraq
Ryan Crocker and Ambassador David M. Satterfield, Senior Advisor to the
Secretary of State and Coordinator for Iraq, according to a statement issued
by the Iraqi government.
The two sides assessed the progress made by the Iraqi political process and
mulled several challenging issues and ways to settle them within the coming
two months.
They asserted the importance of pushing forward the national reconciliation
process and the formation of a national unity government.
They also discussed the tension on the Iraqi-Turkish borders and ways to
stabilize the situations there.
The two sides renewed commitment to bolster bilateral ties between Iraq and
the United States, the statement underlined.
On Wednesday Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki said he was finalizing a
cabinet reshuffle and would announce the names of new ministers soon. (end)
