BAGHDAD, Oct 3 (KUNA) -- During the last two weeks of September, 205
terrorists were killed and arrested, while 77 displaced families returned to
their homes in Baghdad, said an Iraqi military official on Wednesday.
During a press conference, spokesman for Operation Law and Order Brigadier
Qassem Ata-Allah said 26 terrorists were killed and 179 others were arrested
throughout September 15-30.
The prisoners included a number of Al-Qaeda figure heads, the commander of
the so called Islamic Army, as well as a number of leaders of foreign
militants, with one being an Egyptian and another from Yemen, noted Ata-Allah.
As for the number of Iraqi prisoners held during the operation, he said a
total of 6,542 persons were apprehended, 1,814 were released and 3,509 were
referred to Iraqi courts for further investigations.
