CAIRO, May 27 (KUNA) -- An Egyptian parliamentary committee has dropped
membership of an MP after he declared bankruptcy.
The committee of legislative and constitutional affairs at the parliament
said Sunday that membership of Mohammad Anwar Esmat Al-Sadat, the nephew of
late Egyptian leader Anwar Sadat, has been dropped following the issuance of
court ruling last March 27 that banned any MP from being active once declaring
a bankruptcy.
The committee refused an appeal by opposition and independent MPs to grant
Al-Sadat a two-week grace period until the verdict is appealed next June. (end)
