KUN0011 4 GEN 0177 KUWAIT /KUNA-GVI3 MIL-MIDEAST-UNREST Palestinian fisherman killed, policeman wounded off Rafah beach GAZA, Dec 10 (KUNA) -- A Palestinian fisherman was killed early Saturday morning and a Palestinian policeman was wounded when an Israeli gunboat fired at them from the sea near the shore of Rafah in southern Gaza, Palestinian security and medical sources said. A Palestinian security source said "the Israeli gunboat cruised off Rafah and fired at a group of fishermen who were on a fishing boat at dawn." The source identified the deceased fisherman as 37-year-old Natheer Farhat. As for the policeman, the source said he sustained serious wounds when the same Israeli gunboat opened fire on him and his colleagues while they searched for the fisherman. Search operations are ongoing for a second fisherman who has been lost during the incident, the source added. This was the second time within a week that fishermen were targeted in the region, where Palestinian fisherman Ziyad Al-Bardweel was killed in the same location while fishing.
