Chemical scare at Royal Mail sorting office

KUN0017 4 GEN 0158 KUWAIT /KUNA-BEQ9 SEC-UK-CHEMICAL-POST Chemical scare at Royal Mail sorting office LONDON, Dec 22 (KUNA) -- A chemical scare was sparked at a British Royal Mail sorting office as white powder leaked from a package, police said Wednesday. Four workers at the delivery office in King's Lynn, Norfolk, southern England, were taken to a decontamination unit as one of them complained of skin irritation. Fire and ambulance services rushed to the scene at the postal depot after police were alerted to the incident last night. Postal staff said a small amount of the powder had apparently leaked from a package over a couple of other parcels that were being sorted by the four workers. The employees were isolated and then later taken for check-ups at a local hospital. They were all later released. A police spokesman said investigators recovered the powder which was then taken for analysis. No further details were available. (end) he.bn KUNA 221215 Dec 04NNNN
