No fish kill phenomenon detected in Kuwait bay-EPA
KUWAIT, April 26 (KUNA) -- The Environment Public Authority (EPA)
underscored on Monday that no fish kill phenomenon was detected in Kuwait's
beaches but the growth of limited seaweeds and planktons was well clear, but
this is the outcome of common seasonal marine environment changes every spring
and continues until May.
EPA Director General Mohammad Al-Saraawi told newsmen here that the Fish
Kill Monitoring section detected different kinds of decaying fishes, but this
is not relevant to the side effects of the red tide phenomenon.
The government has launched a comprehensive set of measures to tackle
over-exploitation and un-sustainable fishing in the country beside adopting a
cost-efficient and fast-reproducing fish breeding policy. (end)
