KUN0145 4 GEN 0111 KUWAIT /KUNA-EUZ1 GEO-ALGERIA-QUAKE A 4.9 quake shakes Western Algeria ALGIERS, April 7 (KUNA) -- An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale shook, Wednesday at 07:07 local time, the province of Mascara, the Research Center in Astronomy, Astrophysics and Geophysics (CRAAG) announced. Professor Mohammad Hamdash, spokesman for the CRAAG told KUNA that the quake's epicenter was located 20 kilometers in the north-east of Tighenif. He said this is part of the quake activity known by the country since the strong quake that hit Boumerdas province and the Algerian capital last May 21st, which killed 2,000 and left over 25,000 families without shelter.
