KUN0003 4 GEN 0233 KUWAIT /KUNA-NPN4 HIS-KUWAIT-EVENTS Today in Kuwait's History, November 16, 2003 KUWAIT, Nov 16 (KUNA) -- 1977 -- Amiri decree number 133 for the year 1977 was issued to establish the Kuwait Ports Authority aimed at managing and operating the trade ports. 1990 -- The Iraqi occupation forces failed to convince Kuwaitis to change their Kuwaiti civil id cards to Iraqi id cards during their occupation. 1993 -- The discovery of a new oil well in the south of um qadeer oil field was announced in a statement issued by Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC). 1993 -- At least 350 Iraqis crossed the Kuwaiti-Iraqi borders and assaulted employees working for the security belt project. 1993 -- Kuwait signed a number of medium terms credit facilities agreements with international French banks to finance exports worth five million francs for the future supply of Kuwaiti governmental institutes. 1994 -- The National Industries Group tiles plant was inaugurated and is considered to be the most advanced in the Gulf and the Arab region. 1994 -- The Security council welcomed the recognition of Iraq of the State of Kuwait. 1998 -- Minister of Information, Yousef Al-Sumait inaugurated the permanent exhibition for Iraqi crimes which includes documents, illustrations, recordings and cds documenting the brutal crimes of the Iraqi invasion.(end) adf.kf KUNA 161002 Nov 03NNNN
