Palestinian Ambassador: Geneva accord signature postponed for procedural
reasons
GENEVA, Nov 6 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Ambassador designate to Bern Anis
Al-Qaq said Thursday that the signing ceremony of the Geneva accord between
Palestinians and Israelis has been postponed for procedural reasons.
Talking to a select group of reporters, Al-Qaq added that the delay is due
to the fact that all sides would like to assemble the greatest possible
support for the accord.
Al-Qaq, who is due in a few days to present his letter of credential to the
Swiss Foreign Ministry in Bern, noted that in addition to former US President
Jimmy Crater, two other prominent former leaders would attend the signing
ceremony notably former US president Bill Clinton and former South African
President Nelson Mandela.
He stressed that the Palestinian Authority supports all movements that aim
at achieving a jusT and durable peace in the Middle East.
"The more the accord is acclaimed by the world community, and well received
by the Israeli and Palestinian public, the more the pressure would add on the
current Israeli government who has failed to present any new political
initiatives," said Al-Qaq. (end)
