Kuwaiti FM arrives in Italy
ROME, Sept 9 (KUNA) -- Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Sabah
Al-Salem Al-Sabah arrived here Tuesday on a two-day visit, for talks with
senior Italian officials.
Sheikh Mohammed is due to meet on Wednesday his Italian counterpart Franco
Frattini and a number of Italian officials for talks on bilateral ties and
issues of common concern.
During the meeting with Frattini, a memorandum of understanding will be
signed on cooperation in political, economic and social fields.
Sheikh Mohammed who arrived from Cairo after heading the Kuwaiti delegation
to the Arab League Council meeting, described as strong the Kuwaiti-Italian
relations and praised the developing dialogue between the two sides.
He had said before leaving Kuwait on a tour that has already taken him to
Saudi Arabia and Egypt that his visit to Italy was meant to develop bilateral
ties, the economic ones in particular.
Italy is presiding the European Union and takes part in peacekeeping
missions in Iraq.
Italy and Kuwait established diplomatic relations on November 28, 1964.
Italy is the first importer of Kuwaiti products among non-Arab countries with
41 percent. (end)
