30-minister government formed in Lebanon
BEIRUT, April 17 (KUNA) - Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri formed a new
30-member government Thursday, the council of ministers' Secretary General Dr.
Suheil Bouji announced.
- According to the statement, Issam Faris was named deputy prime
minister; Bahij Tabbara, minister of justice; Marwan Hamadeh, minister of
economy and trade; Assaad Hardan, minister of labor; Faris Bweiz minister of
environment, Talal Arslan, minister of state; Suleiman Franjiyeh, minister of
health; Assaad Diab minister of social affairs.
-- Michel Samaha was named minister of information; Fuad
Al-Sanioura, minister of finance; Jean Obeid, minister of foreign affairs,
Abdelhim Murad, minister of state; Ayyoub Humayed, minister of energy and
water; Michel Moussa, minister of state; Karam Karam, minister of state; Najib
Miqati, minister of Public Works and transport; Sibuh Hofnanian, minister of
youth and sport; Khalil Al-Hrawi, minister of state.
The ministry of culture went to Ghazi Al-Aridi; Mahmoud Hammoud became
minister of defense; Samir Al-Jisr, minister of education and higher
education; Elias Al-Murr, minister of interior and municiplaities; Jean Louis
Kardahi, minister of communications; Elias Skaf, minister of industry and Ali
Kansou minister of state.
Ali Hassan Khalil became minister of agriculture; Abdullah Farhat, minister
of the displaced; Karim Bakradouni, minister of administrative development;
Ali Hussein Abdullah, minister of agriculture.
The new government will meet Saturday. The meeting will be followed by an
extraordinary session to form the Ministerial Statement Committee. (end)
