CAIRO, Feb 25 (KUNA) -- The Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) announced Wednesday the killing of over 23 Al-Shabaab militants linked to Al-Qaeda in military operations conducted this week with international partners.
In a statement carried by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), NISA said the operations targeted militants preparing attacks in Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle regions, based on precise intelligence about movements in Waab-weyn and Goobo areas within Mahas in Middle Shabelle.
Last night's raid destroyed a militant camp in Moqokori district of Hiiraan, where attackers were stationed, it mentioned.
NISA stated it is intensifying efforts to eradicate terrorism and bolster security and stability across Somalia. (end)
