LONDON, Feb 13 (KUNA) -- UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European leaders affirmed on Friday the need to commit to the Euro-Atlantic partnership and bolstering defense to face threats, including those posed by Russia, a government statement said Friday.
A statement by the Prime Ministerآ’s Office revealed that these topics came during meetings with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron at the 62nd Munich Security Conference.
The statement indicated that the leaders affirmed their commitment to continue to work together, alongside other partners, to bolster collective defense and security.
"They agreed that Europe needs to step up and do more to share the burden while protecting the enduring strength of the Euro-Atlantic partnership," the statement added.
It went on to say, "They confirmed their enduring support for Ukraine, especially in the face of Russiaآ’s horrific recent attacks, and the ongoing work to secure a just and lasting peace."
The Munich Security Conference, taking place from February 13 to 15, is witnessing the wide participation of several top officials, including His Highness the Prime Minister of Kuwait Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. (end)
