KUWAIT, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's embassies in Turkiye, Albania, Azerbaijan and Portugal on Thursday held galas marking the 65th National Day and the 35th anniversary of the Liberation Day, which were attended by senior officials and international diplomats.
In Istanbul, in a festive national atmosphere of joy and happiness, the Embassy of the State of Kuwait held a reception on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of Kuwait's National Day and the 35th anniversary of the Liberation Day.
Speaking to KUNA on the sidelines of the event, Kuwaiti Ambassador in Turkiye Abdulazeez Al-Adwani congratulated the Kuwaiti political leadership and the government and people of Kuwait on the country's national celebrations.
The ambassador underlined that these national celebrations mark a great occasion that reflects the unity and solidarity of the Kuwaiti people and recalls Kuwait's bright journey since it was established, along with its comprehensive renaissance and continuous development accomplishments.
He emphasized that Kuwait and Turkiye are tied with firm relations, pointing out that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's visit to Turkiye last May had reflected six decades of strategic partnership based on mutual respect and interests.
In Tirana, the Embassy of the State of Kuwait in Albanian joined the country's embassies and consulates in marking the country's National Day and Liberation Day.
The Embassy's Acting Charge d'Affaires in Tirana Adnan Al-Ghuneim addressed the event by extending sincere congratulations to the political leadership, government and people of Kuwait on the dear occasion.
Al-Ghuneim said that marking these two occasions, which are dear to the hearts of the Kuwaiti people, refreshes the highest meanings of loyalty and devotion to the nation and its wise leadership, who has been committed to backing Arab and Islamic causes, maintaining good relations with world countries, and supporting humanitarian causes irrespective of religion or race.
The diplomat emphasized that Kuwaiti-Albanian relations are solid, strong and continuously growing, and these ties have been embodied throughout the past years since diplomatic relations were forged by the two friendly countries in 1968.
He regarded this as a qualitative leap in the course of bilateral cooperation, and both sides are keen on developing and strengthening these relations towards a new stage.
In Azerbaijan, the Kuwaiti Embassy held a ceremony to mark the National Day and Liberation Day of Kuwait, with Ambassador Mohammad Al-Mutairi and several Azerbaijani officials, parliamentarians and diplomats attending.
Addressing the reception, the ambassador said that both National and Liberation Days are precious and dear occasions that evoke pride and honor in the homeland and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
On Kuwait-Azerbaijan ties, Al-Mutairi described the past year, 2025 as "a year full of achievements and upcoming milestones for the year 2026 with regard to bilateral relations between the State of Kuwait and the Republic of Azerbaijan."
In Lisbon, the Kuwaiti Embassy held a reception marking the country's national celebration in the presence of senior Portuguese officials and diplomats.
Addressing the party, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Portugal Hamad Al-Hazeem conveyed his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on this joyous occasion.
He voiced his deep gratitude for the great cooperation of the Portuguese government in ensuring the success of the embassy's mission, especially in promoting the bonds of friendship and bringing both friendly countries closer.
He commended this as contributing to opening broader horizons for cooperation in the political, economic, and commercial domains and the exchange of mutual interests.
The celebration was attended by President of the Portuguese Constitutional Court Justice Jose Abrantes, the Chief of Presidential Protocol Francisco Batu, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Portuguese Parliament Jose Cesario, a number of parliamentarians, representatives of civil society organizations, and diplomats.
Justice Abrantes said he was so pleased to attend the reception, underlining that this occasion reflects the sentiments of joy and happiness of all those present at the celebration marking Kuwait's national festivals. (end)
