Kuwait approves regulatory guidelines for women's shelter to boost family protection

KUWAIT, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah affirmed Thursday the approval of detailed internal regulations for the Women's Shelter, supporting family protection.
In a statement, Al-Huwailah said the regulations implement Law No. 16 of 2020 on Protection from Domestic Violence, ensuring victims receive safety, dignity, and comprehensive support.
The guidelines define procedures for reception and accommodation, confidentiality standards, beneficiaries' rights and responsibilities, and administrative and technical roles within the center, enhancing governance and service quality.
She emphasized that the regulations mark an important step toward a safe, professional shelter environment that respects privacy and provides psychological, social, and legal support.
The ministry remains committed to updating organizational frameworks according to best international practices to promote family stability and uphold women's dignity.
