LONDON, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- The United Kingdom announced on Thursday over an GBP 500 million air defense package for Ukraine to help in war efforts against Russia.
A statement by the Ministry of Defense revealed that the urgent package of air defense missiles and systems will be used to protect Ukraine's energy sites and infrastructure.
The UK will provide around GBP 150 million to NATO's Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative, deliver 1,000 Lightweight Multirole Missiles (LMMs) to defend Ukraine infrastructure and cities, as well as a package of GBP 390 million to deepen collaboration between the UK and Ukraine on producing and supporting Rapid Ranger Launchers and other equipment.
Speaking on the issue, Secretary Healey said, "As we approach the fifth year of Putin's full scale invasion, the UK and our allies are more committed than ever to supporting Ukraine."
"I'm proud of the UK's continued leadership and pleased to confirm a new half a billion pound package of air defence, including آ£150 million for PURL, to help Ukrainians defend against Putin's relentless drone and missile attacks," he added.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the UK will deliver in the upcoming months an additional 1,200 air Defense missiles, and 200,000 artillery ammunition rounds for the Ukraine. (end)
