Kuwait weightlifters secure 3 medals in Masters Weightlifting Championship
ABU DHABI, Feb 11 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's national team won three medals, two gold and one bronze, during their participation in the Masters Weightlifting Championship (Abu Dhabi 2026), currently being hosted in the UAE capital.
The championship features wide participation from athletes representing 43 countries, competing according to the approved weight categories and the regulations of the International Weightlifting Federation. The event kicked off on February 7.
Athlete Mohammad Al-Nasser secured the gold medal in the 110 kg category for the 45-year-old age group, reaffirming his strong presence in international and continental competitions and outperforming his rivals to claim first place.
Meanwhile, his compatriot Yousef Al-Asiri captured the gold medal in the 35-year-old age group after an outstanding performance that demonstrated his superiority.
Athlete Nawaf Al-Nasser earned the bronze medal in the 40-year-old category after advancing to the final stages of the competition.
In a statement to KUNA, Mohammad Al-Nasser said that his gold medal achievement was the result of long-term effort and an intensive training camp leading up to the championship, along with commitment to daily training.
He stated that his achievement, along with those of Al-Asiri and Nawaf Al-Nasser, represents a valuable addition to Kuwaiti weightlifting on the regional and international stage.
He added that the Abu Dhabi Championship is considered one of the strongest global competitions due to the participation of elite champions. (end)
