Five global companies win Libya's first oil bidding round in 17 years

TUNIS, Feb 11 (KUNA) -- The Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced on Wednesday that five companies and international alliances have won a set of oil bids in a bidding round, the first in 17 years.
The institution stated that the winners of the 2026 general exploration bidding round were Eni Qatar, Repsol, Chevron, and Atio.
The announcement ceremony was held in the Libyan capital Tripoli, in the presence of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, and NOC Chairman Masoud Suleiman.
Chairman Suleiman said that reviving exploration activities and opening the field for global investment in the Libyan energy sector will support boosting the economy, increasing production, and investment attractiveness.
Libya is seeking to increase its oil production, which its economy relies on, and to return to the global oil investment map. (end) sbm.abk.sas
