US Sec. of State to visit Germany, Slovakia, Hungry next week

WASHINGTON, Feb 10 (KUNA) -- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will travel to Germany next week to participate in the 62nd Munich Security Conference, the State Department has announced.
Secretary Rubio will travel then to Slovakia and Hungary to strengthen US relations with the two countries.
Deputy Principal Spokesperson for the US Department of State Tommy Pigott said in a press statement late Monday that Rubio will visit Germany from February 13 to 15 to attend the 62nd Munich Security Conference and then travel to the Slovak capital, Bratislava, and the Hungarian capital, Budapest, from February 15 to 16.
Pigott added that Rubio will meet senior Slovak government officials in Bratislava to advance shared regional security interests, strengthen bilateral cooperation in nuclear energy, diversify energy sources, support modernization of the Slovak armed forces, and reinforce Slovakia's commitments to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
He explained that the US Secretary of State will also hold meetings in Budapest with senior Hungarian officials to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations, address regional issues, and advance US-Hungarian energy partnership.
The 2026 Munich Security Conference is expected to bring together 65 heads of state and government, more than 90 foreign and defense ministers, and representatives of international organizations. (end) amm.dss
